This flag was officially introduced in 1946, but there are some examples that date back to the 17th century where a colt was used on flags in Füllinsdorf. The flag is another example of wrong etymology. "Füllinsdorf" has nothing to do with "Füllen" (foal/colt in English). The name derives from "Firinisvilla", the name of a Roman farm located here in the 3th century. The colors were chosen, because these were the colors of Schauenburg who ruled some parts of the area in the late Middle Ages.
This flag along with the flags of the canton Basel-Land and Switzerland were located at the corner of the construction site for the new highway.
