This historic shelter house is named for Harriet Keeler, an author and educator whose contributions to outdoor education are celebrated in Brecksville Reservation. The Harriet Keeler Shelterhouse is the oldest shelterhouse in Cleveland Metroparks. The main construction was completed by park maintenance staff about 1928, using materials found within the park. Sandstone was quarried from ravines nearby to form the foundation, while native wood, including white oak and pine, was extracted and milled in the park. The WPA completed the rear, "T" section in 1937, also using resources found within the park to match the original construction.
