Anne Marie, referred to as Mademoiselle, became the heiress to five duchies when her mother died five days after her birth. Although she was the King's niece, her father, the King's brother, was often involved in conspiracies aginst Louis XIII and Cardinal Richelieu. She took a prominent role in seeking peace during the rebellions known as the Fronde. her efforts made her suspect and she lived in exile for 5 years. Read more about her at (
