It can be said that cycling in Malveira (as organized sport) had its beginning in 1936, in a symbolic event in Lisbon known as "Bicycle Day". That was the day (15.11.36), in the Parque Eduardo VII at a concentration of hundreds of bikers and curious, that eight young riders equipped with their shirts, and each shit had a letter of the name of their land: "MALVEIRA." Among them was Tulio Pereira who was to become a big name in cycling national (even international), and it was precisely Tulio that won in that lucky day a special bicycle drawn from all in attendance.
Thereafter the fervor for cycling increased considerably and Tulio, who was already known in the region for its qualities of climber, gained notability as amateur cyclist, then in 1937 to join the team Sporting Clube de Portugal (which this year won almost all the competitions that he attended) where he began a journey of many successes, it became known respected by all lovers of cycling.
In 1940 some "malveirenses", passionated about cycling and proud of the achievements of his countryman Tulio Pereira, officially founded a club they called the Atlético Clube da Malveira, and after much struggle, in 1942 was organized 1st Circuito Ciclista Independente, with the participation of some national figures of cycling. The Third Circuit in 1944, has been inserted in the national competition calendar. In the decades of 40-50, with the realization of circuits and the passage of the best runners lot of the time in these lands (special mention to 6 wins Alves Barbosa), created a kind of pro cycling has generated a genuine liking the sport.
The success of the Circuit Malveira continued year after year, and in 1960, was inaugurated in the Campos das Seixas (the field of A.C. Malveira) the famous cycling track of Malveira (justly called Pista Tulio Pereira) and for the first time, in the day of the nineteenth Circuit (September 18, 1960) were held here the first (and very busy) track events.
