A plaque on the church reads [in French]: "L'église de L'Acadie, dédiée à sainte Marguerite d'Écosse, a été construite en 1800-1801. Les travaux de décoration ont été exécutés, de 1805 à 1825, par Georges et Daniel Finsterer. Le maître-autel fut consacré par Mgr Bourget en 1842."
[English translation]: "The church in Acadia, dedicated to Saint Margaret of Scotland, was constructed in 1800-1801. The work of decoration were executed, from 1805 to 1825, by Georges and Daniel Finsterer. The altar was dedicated by Bishop Bourget in 1842."

[French]: "L'église de Sainte-Marguerite-de-Blairfindie, classée en 1957, est un lieu de culte catholique construit en 1800 et 1801. L'édifice en moellons présente un plan en croix latine composé d'une nef à un vaisseau, d'un transept et d'un choeur plus étroit terminé par une abside en hémicycle. Il est coiffé d'un toit à deux versants légèrement retroussés doté de croupes au transept et d'une croupe ronde à l'abside. La façade, très simple, comprend un oculus dans le pignon, des ouvertures cintrées disposées symétriquement et un clocher sur le faîte. La sacristie en moellons, agrandie en 1841, est greffée à l'abside perpendiculairement au choeur. De plan rectangulaire à un étage et demi, elle est coiffée d'un toit à croupes à versants droits. Une cheminée et un tambour en bois se dressent contre le mur nord. Du côté sud, un petit porche en moellons donne accès au chemin couvert à deux branches, aussi en moellons, reliant l'église, la sacristie et le presbytère. L'église se situe dans le secteur L'Acadie de la ville de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Elle fait partie d'un ensemble religieux qui compte, outre le presbytère et le chemin couvert, l'école de fabrique et le cimetière. L'ensemble est isolé des habitations par sa situation sur une langue de terre boisée formée par un méandre de la rivière L'Acadie. L'église bénéficie d'une aire de protection.
Vingt-deux biens mobiliers de l'église de Sainte-Marguerite-de-Blairfindie ont été classés en 1964."
