Stops signs at unlit rural intersections can, at times, be hard to see. A blinking stop sign is practical solution at a dangerous intersection. LED lights are embedded in the sign and a solar collector provides the electricity to power the lights. The light blink for about a second every few seconds. Certainly enough to get the drivers attention.

The sign is a BlinkerStop® 110V Flashing LED Traffic Sign: R1-1 STOP Sign manufactured by the Tapco Company of Wisconsin. The company asserts that "studies show a result in 52.9% reduction in blow-throughs when using this sign".
Type of system: Photovoltaic (electrical)
