A deep romantic valley with a rocky channel of the River Metuje near Nové Mesto nad Metují is called Peklo (Hell valley). It is a much sought after destination for cyclists and hikers.
For a centuries there were two mills in the seetlement naed peklo (Hell) located in the valley of the same name. In one of the mills, called Pekelec, refreshment had been served even before. Nothing special, but water or beer and bread-and-butter and cakes of cheese. All of this suited nicely after a five-kilometer walk from Nové Mesto or Náchod. In 1912, it was rebuilt in compliance with the project of the famous Czech architect Dušan Jurkovic into stylish tourist restaurant in the style of a traditional wooden structure.

Vyhledávaný cíl peších turistu i cyklistu leží v romantickém hlubokém údolí reky Metuje u Nového Mesta. Známá výletní restaurace ve stylu drevených lidových staveb s postavami certu byla postavena na pocátku 20. století.
Peklo je jednak osada, jednak výletní restaurace, jednak údolí. Úbocí hlubokého údolí má z jedné strany vrcholný bod v Sendražském kopci a z druhé strany v krásné scenérii Konícka, soucásti to Huncovských hor. V Pekle bývaly dva mlýny. Ve mlýne na Olešence, který Jurkovic premenil ve výletní restauraci nebo útulnu, jak se dríve ríkalo, se obcerstvení podávalo už dríve. Nic zvláštního, ale voda nebo pivo a chléb s máslem a syrecky. To vše po petikilometrové chuzi z Nového Mesta nebo z Náchoda prišlo k chuti.
V roce 1912 byl puvodní mlýn prestaven podle návrhu známého ceského architekta Dušana Jurkovice na stylovou turistickou restauraci ve stylu drevených lidových staveb.
