This is a small museum honoring the accomplishments of Lawrence Dale Bell. Mr. Bell was an accomplished aircraft designer and businessman in the aviation industry. He of course is the founder of Bell Helicopters but he has many other notable aircraft under his development too such as the Bell X-1, the first aircraft to fly faster than the speed of sound in level flight! Chuck Yeager flew that aircraft. He also is creditied for the first jet powered aircraft in the US military. The museum hosts a rotor-craft fly in each year in late September that is a lot of fun. The hours of the museum are irregular since it is staffed 100% by volunteers in this tiny little town. If you would like to see their displays a call to 574-353-7296 will put you in touch with one of the members and they can set up a time for you to come by.
