More from the Smithsonian database:
"Dimensions: Sculpture: approx. 10 ft. 5 in. x 10 ft. 5 in. x 5 ft. 4 in.; Base: approx. 5 x 60 x 60 in.
Inscription: EGON WEINER (Northeast corner of circular bronze platform:) POLYPHONY BY EGON WEINER 1963 (Southwest corner of bronze platform:) KRIA.KUNST & METALSTOBERI-OSLO-NORWAY signed Founder's mark appears.

Weiner was artist-in-residence at the University in the Summer of 1962. The sculpture was originally placed at the west entrance to the new Fine Arts-Music Building completed that summer. Over the years, because of University growth and construction, the piece was moved and eventually sited at its current location near the Student Union building."

Believe it or not there is another one of these in Chicago! See my waymark (visit link) for additional details on this sculpture as well as Weiner's life. It was wonderful to track this Milwaukee version down as well.
