The first monument in a row of monuments in Court Square honors Springfield veterans. A 5' by 3' by 6" stone monument has incised in it the image of an American eagle and shield. The eagle is facing right and has its wings spread. It is holding three arrows in its talons. Below are the names and dates of three wars: World War I, World War II and the Korean War. The monument is inscribed:

IN HONOR OF
ALL SPRINGFIELD VETERANS
WHO SERVED THEIR
COUNTRY IN
WORLD WAR I   1917 - 1918
WORLD WAR II 1941 - 1945
KOREAN WAR    1950 - 1953

In the lower right hand corner is the date of dedication:
