In Stoneham, at the corner of Pine Street and Franklin Street, is a brick building that once was a railroad depot.
The Wikipedia site has a little information about the depot. It was built in 1895 and is also known as the Boston and Maine Depot. Boston and Maine was once a large railroad that covered just about all points north of Boston, stretching into New Hampshire and Maine. Today, the name is virtually gone - the line is now known as PanAm Railways (Remember PanAm Airways?). It appears that there hasn't been tracks that went by the station in years, in fact, there is nothing to indicate where they went. It is possible that Pine Street itself was where the tracks went. The current use is the Stoneham M.E.F. Credit Union. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
The building is brick with stone trim and a shingled hip roof. It appears to be in good condition.
