Coniston Mechanics Institute, to give its proper name is on Yewdale Road (A593), Coniston, Cumbria UK LA21 8DU. Nowadays it is very much part of village life. Looking north west, with Furness Fell just in view.

Coniston Institute is so heavily used, it can support a live-in manager.

The Parish Council meet here once a month. It houses the library, worth seeing, separate waymark. Many village societies use it facilities. And many a band has had its first gig here.
John Ruskin was instrumental in getting this built.
