Out of Lake Itasca flows the mighty Mississippi River. From here it flows 2,552 (2,530 according to some) miles south to the Gulf Of Mexico. At this point, you can easily walk across this amazing waterway.

Bring your sandals and walking stick to aid in crossing the river. It's well worth it! The trail from the parking lot is less than half a mile and an easy walk. In the summer, this is a really busy place with families enjoying the cool water.

You can access the trail at the main visitor center off of County Highway 38 just south of route 200.
