Longfellow's Wayside Inn is the oldest operating inn in the country, serving Boston Post Road travelers since 1716. A horizontal sundial is located on the front lawn between the road and the main building. The dial has a compass rose and the hours are in Roman numerals subdivided into 15 minute intervals. It is set on a 3' high pedestal.
