Long Description:
Located in the small town of St. Charles, Idaho, on the west side of the Bear Lake, a monument to Gutzon Borglum has been erected. Gutzon Borglum was born in St. Charles on March 25, 1867, and went on to become a well known sculptor. He is most famous as the sculptor of Mount Rushmore, but has a wide body of work. There is a small replica of the Mount Rushmore National Monument atop a large red rock. On the rock is inscribed the following quote from Gutzon Borglum:
"The purpose of the memorial is to communicate the founding, expansion, preservation, and unification of the United States with colossal statues of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt."
