Italian immigrants to Springfield settled in Springfield's South End neighborhood. Although later generations have move on, the area is still home to a variety of Italian specialty shops. At the southeast corner of Main and William Street, at the edge of a parking lot for a popular store at 889 Main Street, is a monument to Rocky Marciano. The inscription reads:
