From a local newspaper in 2003: "The Racine Earth Service Corps Youth United club at the Racine Family YMCA will plant their Peace Garden today. The garden was made possible through a grant from REI Inc., a recreational equipment clothing company, and the YMCA of the USA. The garden will include a peace pole and native plants. The Peace pole has the phrase "May Peace Prevail on Earth" written in different languages on each side of the pole."
