The Newport Center for the Performing Arts was opened 1n 1998 as an area resource for concerts, live theater, art exhibits, and a venue for both local and visiting musical groups.
It has a 383-seat auditorium and another more intimate 100-seat venue. There are all of the ancillary facilities for orchestras and bands and a detached storage building. The building maintains a low profile on four and half acres of land near Nye Beach, painted in muted gray tones in harmony with the environment.
It is administered by the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts.
