Historically known as Sproul's Cafe, this building is on the
National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1880 by Elihu T. Hamor for Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sproul, the building housed Sproul's Cafe, a favorite gathering place for Bar Harbor's summer colony, as well as for some local residents during the early days of Bar Harbor's Cottage Era. Sproul's operated as a restaurant until 1903, when it was sold and converted into a department store by a Mr. Franklin.
