Rank and organization: Captain, Company C, 97th Illinois Infantry.
Place and date: At Blakely, Alabama, April 9, 1865.
Entered service at: Gillespie, Macoupin County, Illinois
Birth: Marion County, Missouri - September 24, 1838.
Death: Marion County, Missouri - October 16, 1901
Date of issue: October 9, 1879.
Citation: Among the first to enter the enemy's entrenchments, he received the surrender of a Confederate general officer and his headquarters flag.
