On Huckle Hill Road in Bernardston there is a marker describing the location of a fort built by Deacon Ebenezer Sheldon. It appears to have been recently painted over in light gray paint.
The Lieutenant's son Ebenezer,
later deacon of the church and
first town treasurer, built a
fort ten rods east of here in
1740/41. It was unsuccessfully
attacked by Indians in 1746 during
King George's War.

When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. The picture does not have to be of the marker - one picture of the marker is enough. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
