We found these Native American burial grounds located in a public park in Fond du Lac, WI. There was a Munzee attached to the plaque and that is how I learned abou these burial grounds.
From what we seen there were 3 visible burial mounds in the immediate area.
The signs text is as of follows.
BURIAL MOUNDS
BEGINNING ABOUT 1000 B.C. AND CONTINUING
UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 1200 A.D., VARIOUS
GROUPS OF NATIVE AMERICANS IMMIGRATED
TO WISCONSIN. SOME OF THESE PEOPLE
BROUGHT THE CUSTOM OF BURYING THEIR
DEAD IN MOUNDS CONSTRUCTED OF THE PILED TOPSOIL
TO THE STATE'S WOODLANDS AND PRAIRIES.
THOUSANDS OF BURIAL MOUNDS DOTTED
WISCONSIN'S LANDSCAPE DURING PREHISTORIC
TIMES. THE REASON FOR MOUND BURIALS IS
NOT KNOWN.
