Fonte Santa - Coz, Alcobaça, Portugal - Holy Wells on Waymarking.com

There are many legends associated with the holy waters that cured diseases and sources flowed miraculous. It is the case of Fonte Santa, an holy well, located in a valley covered with dense vegetation; a pleasant and charming location in near the village of Castanheira. It is related to one of the most curious legends of the county of Alcobaça, the legend of Nossa Senhora da Luz. It is engraved the following inscription: "Here Nossa Senhora da Luz appeared in the year 1601."
