Sir Frederick Handley Page was an aircraft designer and industrialist. In 1919 he founded the manufacturing company Handley Page Limited which, until its demise in 1970, produced military and civilian aircraft - notably heavy bombers and airliners - ranging from early biplanes to the Victor jet bomber[2].

The plaque reads:
