The Amish in this area of Indiana often have schools consisting of one room. Some will have electricity, some will not dependent on the dictate of the local Order (this one does not) but all still utilize the outhouses in the schoolyards. This one is pretty typical of the ones in this area. The Amish in this area are quite utilitarian and as such there is great disparity between the pridefully built old schoolhouses in the area versus the "modern" one room schools of today.
