Wissenswertes über das Narzissenfest
Die Narzisse:
Die im Ausseerland so häufig vorkommende Narzisse ist die sogenannte „Sternblütige Narzisse“ (Narcissus radiiflorus). Früher wurde sie als eine Unterart der "DICHTERNARZISSE" (auch weiße Narzisse, lateinisch "narcissicus poeticus") angesehen. Eigentliche Heimat ist Südeuropa, in Mitteleuropa eingebürgert, in Österreich in der Obersteiermark, im Salzkammergut und im südwestlichen Niederösterreich besonders häufig auftretend. Sie blüht, je nach Höhenlage, von Mitte Mai bis Mitte Juni. Die großen Wiesen mit ihrer weißen Blütenpracht erfreuen in dieser Zeit die Urlauber und Besucher des Ausseerlandes - Salzkammergut. Die geschätzte Gesamtfläche der Narzissenwiesen im Steirischen Salzkammergut beträgt zusammengenommen mehrere Quadratkilometer.
Entstehung:
Das erste Narzissenfest wurde am 28. und 29. Mai 1960 als Frühlingsfest für die Gäste des Ausseerlandes durchgeführt. Das Narzissenfest wird seither in ununterbrochener Reihenfolge, meist am letzten Mai-Wochenende, veranstaltet. Das kommende 52. Narzissenfest findet vom 02. bis 05. Juni 2011 statt. Höhepunkt und Abschluss des Festes ist am Sonntag, den 05. Juni, der Autokorso durch Bad Aussee und der Bootskorso am Grundlsee.

Besucherzahl:
Das Narzissenfest wird durchschnittlich von 25.000 Gästen besucht. Insgesamt dürften über eine Million Menschen das Narzissenfest bisher gesehen haben. Das heißt aber auch, dass alljährlich für 4.000 bis 7.000 Pkws und etwa 200 bis 300 Autobusse Parkplätze geschaffen werden müssen.
Teilnahme:
Die Teilnahme an den Korsos erfolgt vollkommen freiwillig und kostenlos. Sie ist mit sehr hohem Arbeitsaufwand, handwerklicher Geschicklichkeit, großem Idealismus, vor allem aber auch durch die Liebe zur Gestaltung verbunden. Der „Lohn“ dafür ist der Applaus der vielen tausend Besucher und Geld- bzw. Sachpreise. Durch eine Jury werden die gezeigten Figuren bewertet und die Sieger, bzw. alle Korsoteilnehmer dem interessierten Publikum präsentiert.
Selbstverständlich können sich auch auswärtige Gäste jederzeit mit einer gesteckten Figur am Korso beteiligen. In der Regel nehmen zw. 30-40 Narzissenskulpturen an den beiden Korso teil.
Herstellung der Aufbauten:
Die Motive werden aus einem Holz- oder Baueisengestell gefertigt und mit einem sogenannten Sechskantengeflecht (engmaschiges Drahtgitter) überzogen. In dieses Geflecht werden sodann kleine Büscherl von Narzissen gesteckt, so dass ein schön pelziger Effekt erzielt wird - pro Quadratzentimeter 3 bis 4 Narzissen. Das heißt, dass für größere Aufbauten, die eine Oberfläche von mehreren Quadratmetern erreichen, bis zu 300.000 Narzissenblüten - und oft noch mehr - verwendet werden müssen.
Arbeitsaufwand:
Zuerst wird das Motiv durch den Korsoteilnehmer festgelegt und dann wird die Figur – meistens maßstabgetreu - berechnet und geformt. Die dafür notwendigen Narzissen müssen durch die Korsoteilnehmer vorwiegend selbst gepflückt werden, wobei sie jede Menge von Helfern benötigen. Die Steckarbeiten werden immer in der Nacht vor dem Korso an einem möglichst kühlen Ort durchgeführt und dauern in der Regel die ganze Nacht hindurch. Auch beim Stecken der Skulpturen kommen bis zu 20 Personen zum Einsatz.
Für die Haltbarkeit der Blüten (jedoch nicht für das Fest) sind trübe, kühle Tage am geeignetsten. Ein Besprühen der Blumen mit Wasser ist längerfristig nicht zielführend, da die Blütenblätter davon glasig und durchsichtig werden und ihre Ansehnlichkeit verlieren.
Kosten der Aufbauten:
Allein der Materialaufwand pro Fahrzeug liegt zwischen 250,-- und 800,-- Euro. Wollte man auch den Arbeitsaufwand in Rechnung stellen, so könnte ein einziger großer Aufbau für den Narzissenkorso kaum unter € 4.000,-- hergestellt werden.
Spenden:
Von der einheimischen Geschäftswelt, der Gastronomie, den Privatzimmervermietern und vom Veranstalter werden jährlich schöne Sach- bzw. Geldpreise für die Korsoteilnehmer zur Verfügung gestellt.
Kosten des Festes:
Diese belaufen sich auf ca. 150.000,-- Euro.
Werbewert:
Das Narzissenfest ist der größte und bedeutendste Werbeträger des Ausseer-landes. Der grob geschätzte theoretische Wert der über das Narzissenfest erreichten Veröffent-lichungen in Zeitungen, Illustrierten, durch die Fernsehübertragung und Berichterstattungen im Rundfunk und Fernsehen, liegt zwischen 300.000 und 365.000 Euro. Der geschätzte Kaufkraft-Zufluss für das Ausseerland - Salzkammergut und überhaupt für die gesamte Region zwischen Bad Ischl und Liezen, bzw. Schladming liegt bei ca. 2,2 bis 3 Millionen Euro.
Versorgungseinrichtungen:
Für die Versorgung der vielen tausend Besucher stehen außer den rund 60 Restaurants und Gaststätten, eine Reihe von Würstelständen, Teehütten, das Gartenfest der Feuerwehr und dgl. mehr zur Verfügung.
Natürlich nutzen und schützen wir die Natur:
Unsere schöne Natur ist uns wichtig, weshalb wir die Meinung von Fachleuten ernst nehmen. Es gibt Jahr für Jahr um ein Vielfaches mehr an Narzissen, als für das Narzissenfest gepflückt werden. Die Blumen gedeihen alle Jahre wieder, weil das Pflücken den Zwiebeln nicht schadet. Im Gegenteil: die Blüte nimmt viel Lebenskraft in Anspruch. Wird sie jedoch gepflückt, so bleibt der Zwiebel mehr Kraft zur Fortpflanzung.
Diese Tatsache wird durch ein Gutachten des Botanischen Institutes der Universität für Bodenkultur in Wien bestätigt. Wir stehen dazu, unsere wertvolle Natur zu nutzen. Wir wollen es aber behutsam tun und mit großer Verantwortung.
