In 1990, at the intersection of Granger Blvd. and South Bolton Street, the City of Marlborough constructed a small park to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its incorporation as a city. In view of their heritage, the chose to pay tribute to the their best known workers and industry - shoeworkers.
A 5.5' high sculpture of two shoeworkers resting on a 10' diameter polished granite base set in a brick plaza was created by David Kapetanopoulos. A male cobbler, dressed in work clothes, is seated at a bench and hammering at the heel of a boot while a female figure dressed in 1890's style clothing and hair-do stand at his left side. She is examining a shoe she is holding in her left hand.
Plaques on the ends of a semicircular brick wall that frame the plaza are inscribed.
