In Lexington, facing the Lexington "Battle" Green, is a beautiful white structure that currently houses the First Parish, Unitarian-Universalist Church.
The structure is a classic style of New England church or "meeting house." The building is white, with a clock, belfry and spire. The building is longer than wide and has a peaked roof. Several tall clear-paned windows are visible on the sides and front.
There are several signs on the front. One of the signs has a timeline of the buildings that this parish had, with outlines of the shape of each building. The text is as follows:
"1692 First Meeting House - Built on green
1713 2nd Meeting House - At rear of first
1794 3rd Meeting House - First with a belfrey
1846 Destroyed by Fire
1847 Present Church - On new site
1871 Vestry Added - At rear of building"
There is a cornerstone within the church structure. It states:
"Parish of Cambridge Farms, Incorporated Dec.15.1691"
There is another sign that states the services are on Sundays at 10:30 am.
Date the Church was built, dedicated or cornerstone laid: 01/01/1847
