The museum comprises grounds where outdoor sculptures can be displayed together with plenty of interior space for the permanent and temporary displayes. Examples of recent temporary displays are paintings by Joy Adamson of Born Free fame, and the wildlife photographer of the year.
In the grounds there are studios for artist(s) in residence, who change over time.
The museum is located in a Georgian mansion (build circa 1750). The museum has been there since 1988. It has twice won the National Heritage Museum of the Year Awards
