CS: Otto Wichterle (1913-1998) byl cesky chemik a vynalezce. Celosvetovou proslulost ziskal diky vynalezu mekkych kontaktnich cocek. Dalsim jeho vyznamnym objevem je vynalez silonu.
Pomnik je koncipovan jako strom poznani. Na kazde jeho vetvi je cislo nektereho Wichterlova patentu (celkem jich je 64). Pomnik stoji pred Ustavem makromolekularni chemie, ktery Wichterle sam zalozil. Autory pomniku, ktery byl odhalen 31.10.2005, jsou M.Gabriel, O.Haman a J.Podperova.
Napis na pomniku: "Otto Wichterle vyznamny vedec. Narodil se roku 1913 a zemrel roku 1998. Cisla jeho patentu jsou zapsana v korune teto sochy."

EN: Otto Wichterle (1913-1998) was Czech chemist and inventor. He is world-known for invention of soft contact lenses.
The memorial presents a tree of knowledge. There are numbers of Wichterle's patent on every branch of the tree (total count is 64). The memorial stands in front of Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, which was founded by Wichterle. The memorial was made by M.Gabriel, O.Haman a A.Podeperova and was revealed on 31th October 2005.
Inscription on the memorial: "Otto Wichterle eminent scientist. Was born in 1913 and died in 1998. Numbers of his patents are written in treecrown of this sculpture."
