If you are going to take a tour of Titusville it may just as well be a Waymarking tour!
To start things out we may just as well go to the cities central park and that would be Colonel Drake Park or as it is also known Scheide Park N 41° 37.605 W 079° 40.596 where you will find a large gazebo, time capsule, a fountain and several other way marked items.
Next you will head south a couple of blocks where you will find the OC&T Railroad N 41° 37.443 W 079° 40.625 with all its train cars and a museum quality display and as you will see if you do a search many more way marks including a one of a kind U.S. Train Mail Car.
What do you say next we stop by the Roberts Grove Park N 41° 37.957 W 079° 40.812 so the kids can burn off a little energy on the many great pieces of play equipment. There is also an exercise trail in one corner of the park for the adults and kids. While you are here you may just as well take time to grab a bunch more waymarks or maybe run across the street and use the bathroom before heading on to the last two locations on the tour of my nice little town.
After having all that fun I guess it is about time we think about getting a little education at the local Collage and in this case it would be The University of Pittsburgh at Titusville N 41° 37.774 W 079° 39.915
The School has been a large part of the community for many years and even though they are hesitant to allow geocache containers on their property but that sure will not keep you from seeking out a few waymarks while you are here. Now on to our last stop of the tour!
Welcome to Drake’s Well home of the first commercial oil well N 41° 36.676 W 079° 39.428 The final coords will take you just outside the gate to the park so you will not have to pay to get in if you do not want to. I would like to suggest that if you have not gone in before you consider it especially if they have finished the remodel on the museum before you show up, there is a lot to see. Even if you do not go past the gate you will still be able to see the famous well house that started the modern oil age. You should be able to pick up several other waymarks while you are in the area.
I hope you have enjoyed your short tour of my home town and that you will take time to enjoy all the rest of the waymarks that are not part of the tour but are here for the doing and hidden by several waymarkers including myself.
My suggested days for doing this would be the weekend because you will stand a better chance of everyone being open. Even if places are closed all the stages should be doable but some waymarks will not be available.
