This is the ranger station that serves the Big Bear region of the San Bernardino National Forest.

This facility was replaced as the visitor's center by the nearby Big Bear Discovery Center. It still houses the day-to-day "ranger business" plus the Big Bear "Hot Shots" fire crew.
