Framing the Katherine Hepburn Garden in the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza are a series of six fountains, five of which are virtually identical and one is sufficiently different to be considered separately. The fountains were designed to mitigate traffic noise and create an atmosphere of peace.

At the center of each of these five fountains is a vase-like bowl sitting on a pedestal. Water flows into the bowl and cascades over the rim into a square pond contained by a low wall. Within the wall is an open black metal structure with four columns supporting a latticed frameworked roof topped with a finial.
