The memorial was originally erected to honor those from the county who were killed in World War II. The central granite monument was flanked on each side and on top with addition granite monuments for World War I, Korea and Vietnam. Each of the monuments list the names of those from the county who sacrificed their lives during each war. The central monument is inscribed:
For God For Country For All
Erected By The County Of Osage In Memory Of Those Who Made The Supreme Sacrifice In World War II.
On side facing courthouse:
