The Gloucester Fishermen's Wives Memorial was sponsored by the wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters of Gloucester fishermen. It honors the faith, diligence, and fortitude that the wives of fishermen and mariners display while their husbands are at sea.
A fisherman's wife is standing on a granite rock and looking out to sea. She is wearing a dress and holding a baby daughter in her left arm. Her right hand is on the left shoulder of her young son who is standing on her right side.
This eight foot high bronze sculpture was created by Morgan Faulds Pike and dedicated on August 5, 2001. It is located on the esplanade in Gloucester Harbor at the junction of Routes 127 and 133. The statue is surrounded by four seat walls of Rockport granite and granite memorial pathway stones. Landscape designer Ann Gilardi Johnson designed the site around the statue.
