This building was built in 1885 replacing a building that had stood on this site from 1845 - 1885. The present building was designed for the Bank of Montreal by the architectural firm of Darling & Curry in 1885-6.
In 1993, the Hockey Hall of Fame was relocated to this former Bank of Montreal building in downtown Toronto, where it is presently located.
I used to work at the Bank of Montreal in 1980 and we used to get our office supplies from this building. I bought a water colour painting of this building (see attached) that shows the Bank of Montreal signage at the time I worked there.
