Located at the south entrance to the Borough of Tionesta on State Route 36, this sign features the town's famous landlocked lighthouse as well as the hills that surround it.
Tionesta is a borough of 483 permanant residents although during the summer months people flock to Tionesta Lake which is just south of town. It is also a popular destination for hunters and fishermen.
The name Tionesta comes from a Native American word for where the waters meet The confluence of the Allegheny River and Tionesta Creek is located just a few feet northwest of this sign.
The safest place to photograph the sign is from the small park. The driveway is just south of the sign.
