On May 21, 2001, the first Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery was opened in Agawam. There is no fee for qualified veterans to be interred on the grounds. A nominal fee is charged for the burial of spouses, widows/widowers, and qualified dependents.
The land for this cemetery was donated by a local farmer, Edward Squazza. It contains 61 acres of hilly, landscaped, terrain located in the middle of a suburban area. As of June 2011, over 6,600 veterans and their dependents have been interred. The director of the cemetery is William Walls.

8 am to 7 pm during late spring and summer
8 am to 5 pm the rest of the year
