In nur 10 Monaten Bauzeit – zwischen Oktober 1943 und Juli 1944 - wurde das Bauwerk errichtet und bis Kriegsende als Feuerleitturm genutzt. Am Dach stand u.a. der sogenannte "Würzburgriese", ein Radargerät welches bei Fliegerangriffen im Schacht von 3,5 Meter dicken Stahlbetonwänden geschützt wurde.

Die unglaublich schöne Aussicht auf die Stadt Wien kommt jetzt allen Besuchern des Haus des Meeres zugute und ein Rundgang auf unserem "Parkdeck“ mit zahlreichen Bänken und dem direkten Abgang zur Cafeteria zeigt herrliche Perspektiven unserer Stadt. Gegen ein kleines Entgelt stehen auch Fernrohre und Informationsgeräte zur Verfügung.

In only 10 months construction period - between October 1943 and July 1944 - the building was built and used until the war ended as Feuerleitturm. On the roof was inter alia the so-called "Würzburg Riese", a radar device which was protected from air raids in the shaft of 3.5-meter-thick reinforced concrete walls.
