This set of stone steps was built in 1937 for the old Highbridge Park on the banks of the Cuyahoga River near the High Level Bridge. Over time, the area became abandoned and lost in the woods. In the early 1980s the Metro Parks serving Summit County, in cooperation with the City of Akron, took over management of the area and redeveloped facilities. The stone steps were incorporated into the Chuckery Trail.
The steps are Y-shaped. There are 46 steps ascending from the bottom. At the landing, where there is a boulder inscribed "WPA 1937," two sets of steps veer off: 20 head southeast and 18 head southwest.
