Portmeirion is the village, now a hotel and tourist attraction built in the 1920's and 1930's by the architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. He populated it with buildings and statues, many salvaged from old buildings around the UK that were being torn down.

What do you give someone like that as a 90th birthday present? Well his friends obviously thought he needed a 17th century lion statue and came up with this rather spectacular one
