Unusual piece with an eagle 'merged' with a man

OK, I think I've watched too many science fiction movies where bad things erupt out of people. I realize this piece is a metaphorical 'merging' of man and the spirit of the eagle, but to see it in bronze is at first, a little odd. The plaque reads:
I Too Know the Eagle
I unfold my dreams,
like a cape against the wind.
The greater the force without,
The higher I rise within.
My heart has wings and takes flight,
My mind is set in prayer.
It is in the loftiness of Faith
That I Too Know the Eagle.
