A monument to the men who answered the Lexington Alarm has been erected in the park opposite the Town Hall of Ware.

After the Battle of Lexington and Concord notice of "alarm and muster" of was sent to Massachusetts villages and towns. Express riders, bells, drums, alarm guns, bonfires and trumpets were used for rapid communication. Militia member from towns and villages came to the aid of the embattled colonist in the Boston area. This came to be known as the Lexington Alarm. The names of the men who responded to this alarm appear on the plaque attached to a granite base. The plaque is inscribed:
