At the end of the boardwalk in Newburyport there is a memorial to local fishermen lost at sea. An anchor and ship's steering wheel are mounted on a pedestal which contains plaques honoring the lost.
The plaques are inscribed:
In honor of
the proud, brave fishermen
who lost their lives at sea.
May they rest in peace.
