The board details the many birds which can be seen here at Mudeford Sandspit Lagoon and Holloway's Dock. These include Herring Gull, Comorants, Dunlin, Great Black-Backed Gull, Oystercatchers, Shelduck, Goldeneye, Curlews, Lapwings, Redshank, Ringed Plover, Mallard and Little Egret.

Hengistbury Head is a valued nature reserve which was once mined for its iron ore. Today the mudflats provide feeding ground for the birds with its many worms and crustaceans buried in them. This is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
