This historic one-room schoolhouse has it's own historical marker on the road in front of it which reads:

"Millington Schoolhouse #74
Built in early 19th century as one room school. Classes held continuously until 1926. Addition added 1910. Since 1928 used as Passaic Township Hall. Public school classes discontinued in 1933.
Morris County Heritage Commission"

The date of 1882 is the first known date that the school has been documented...but it's actual date of construction has been lost.
