This Memorial Tower celebrates the life and work of Thomas Edison, inventor of the light bulb, phonograph, electric car batteries and many many more inovations. Edison received over 400 patents!
Edison, was born in Ohio in 1847 but spent most of his career in New Jersey. This Memorial is built over the ruins of his Menlo Park laboratory. In 2011, the Tower was closed for a major renovation. The Memorial had already served as a Museum for Edison artifacts...but, the Museum will be enhanced after the renovation.
The Memorial is a 1937 art deco octagonal 301-foot tower...with the representation of a 25-foot incandescent light bulb at the top.
