Situado no sopé da Colina de Santa Clara, logo abaixo do Mosteiro de Santa Clara. A origem do Convento de São Francisco remonta ao ano de 1602, quando foi construído de acordo com o estilo maneirista da cidade. Os franciscanos ocuparam o edifício de 1609 até à revolta liberal no século XIX.

Ficou abandonado tendo mais tarde servido de instalações para uma fábrica de lanifícios que durante muitos anos funcionou em Coimbra.
Actualmente está a receber obras de restauro e de conversão num centro cultural.

O seu interesse em termos turísticos, prende-se essencialmente na sua fachada modesta, mas com alguns detalhes trabalhados.

Situated in the foothills of the Santa Clara Hill, just below the Monastery of Santa Clara. The origin of the San Francisco Convent dating from 1602, when it was built according to the Mannerist style of the city. The Franciscans occupied the building since 1609 until the liberal revolt in the nineteenth century.

It was abandoned and later he served as a facility for the textile industry that for many years worked in Coimbra.
He is currently receiving restoration and conversion into a cultural center.
