In the Belmont Hill section of Belmont, there is the Habitat Massachusetts Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary. Within sight of the main parking lot, there is a solar array by their community garden.

The page on the Massachusetts Audubon web site states that it was installed in December 2010 and it is rated for 9.2 kW. The array provides the sanctuary with approximately 1/3 of its electrical needs. There is a sign nearby for "Clean and Green" energy. However, this sign is generic - there is no information specific to this installation.

There is a path directly from the parking lot to the array. While a fee is not required to get to it, if you decide to hike the trails, please pay the fee at the visitor center, a beautiful large house that has facilities that include a gift shop, art gallery and large rooms for rental. Currently [9/2011], the fees are $4 for adults and $3 for seniors and children. It's free if you are a Massachusetts Audubon member.
Type of system: Photovoltaic (electrical)
