In Boston's Financial District, there is a light colored building by Liberty Square that has a lot of detailed metalwork and stone carvings around its entrance.
The sign above the door says "The Employers' Liability Assurance Corporation Limited."
The Employers' Liability Assurance Corporation Limited is a UK company that had branches in the U.S. The company is now part of Aviva. I am not sure if the company (under Aviva) still is within the building.
The stone details well above the door is ornate scrollwork with a Columia type figure in a medallion. Below that are square forms that show industry: a gear, a ship, and a tire (automotive). There are small blocks with scrollwork to the sides.
The brasswork around the door is quite detailed. In addition to the flower and leaf patterns on either side, there is a matrix of 21 human figures over the door that are each engaged in an activity.
This building is also known as the Appleton Building or 1 Liberty Square.
